چکیده

Continuous research efforts have been developed in the literature to raise sustainability components of road infrastructure industry, i.e., reduce potential contaminants and augment financial profitability. In this regard, investigation aims explore feasibility producing Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) with inclusion Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) as a partial substitute for coarse Natural Aggregates (NAs). Thus, four different HMAs were considered, namely RCA contents 0, 15, 30, 45%. Specifically, mechanical properties asphalt mixtures determined. On one hand, Marshall design parameters, resilient modulus, moisture susceptibility, rutting resistance, fatigue life addressed properties. Meanwhile, regarding properties, environmental impacts production costs estimated using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Cost Analysis (LCCA) methodologies, respectively. Consequently, following conclusions obtained: (i) content increases, behavior HMA progressively deteriorates; (ii) decrease performance is acceptable up 15% RCA, whereas higher dosages alteration abrupt; (iii) only generates benefits at replacement amount.

Comparative performance of concrete pavements with recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) and virgin aggregate subbases

Using recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) as base/subbase for road construction is alternative way to manage construction waste and reduces the need for virgin aggregates. This paper discusses the long-term performance of concrete pavements on RCA granular layer in comparison to concrete pavements on virgin aggregate granular layer. 18 representative RCA pavement sections across Iowa were primary...

Utilization of Recycled Asphalt Concrete with Warm Mix Asphalt and Cost-Benefit Analysis

The asphalt paving industries are faced with two major problems. These two important challenges are generated with an increase in demand for environmentally friendly paving mixtures and the problem of rapidly rising raw materials. Recycling of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is a critical necessity to save precious aggregates and reduce the use of costly bitumen. Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) technol...

Assessing relationships among properties of demolished concrete, recycled aggregate and recycled aggregate concrete using regression analysis.

Recycled demolished concrete (DC) as recycled aggregate (RA) and recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) is generally suitable for most construction applications. Low-grade applications, including sub-base and roadwork, have been implemented in many countries; however, higher-grade activities are rarely considered. This paper examines relationships among DC characteristics, properties of their RA and...
